Two Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
