A revitalized the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid period, managing just one match at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his first trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface since March of 2023.

The win also signifies the Russian has secured 21 titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden tour victory, took control to create a final set.

He defended 4 early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
